This has been such a hard year for so many. With everything kind of spiraling out of control, I have heard so many people just hoping and praying that 2009 will be better.
The biggest thing I learned this year, and continue to learn, is to trust God again. Yes, I said again. After Micah died, I lost all trust in God. I believed that God was God but I did not believe that He had my best interests in mind. I did not believe He cared. Time after Time this year, God provided. We had weird things happen like having to replace 3 tires and a battery in just 2 or 3 months and other things that cost money that we just didn't have. But, we never went without. And He would always provide exactly what we needed when we needed it. In that, I have been learning that God can be trusted and that he does care. This is a good lesson as we step out in faith in a big way in 2009... more to come on that much later!
I pray and hope that 2009 is a great year for you!

I say no to Santa...
and this is seriously bothering my dad! :) (love you, dad!)
Eric and I made the decision to not do the whole Santa thing with our kids. I know. I KNOW. This is very controversial but for us, we want the focus to be on the birth of Jesus. We will also teach our kids about who St. Nicholoas really was. I cut and pasted the following from the website: http://www.stnicholascenter.org
His wealthy parents, who raised him to be a devout Christian, died in an epidemic while Nicholas was still young. Obeying Jesus' words to "sell what you own and give the money to the poor," Nicholas used his whole inheritance to assist the needy, the sick, and the suffering. He dedicated his life to serving God and was made Bishop of Myra while still a young man. Bishop Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to the those in need, his love for children, and his concern for sailors and ships.
I think it's a great idea to teach our kids to help others in need and we plan to take them shopping for toys for tots each year. I heard a lady on the radio whos kids use some of their own savings from the year to buy toys for kids. I am not sure if she adds to what they have, but her son gets a $100 to shop for boy toys and her daughter gets a $100 to shop for girls toys. They write notes on each toy and then take them to the donation center. Isn't that cool?!
So, what do you do in your house? and why?

15 Things I'm not afraid to admit...
Jackie Sue tagged me~ and if I had any idea how, I'd put her blog on her name, but I don't! So here it goes...
1. I still sleep with a teddy bear
2. I LOATHE sad movies. The notebook, message in a bottle, even the Titanic.
3. I sucked my thumb till I was 10.
4. I love Eric's sense of humor. Sometimes, it's a little silly, but I love it!
5. I don't play my flute anymore because Eric puts me to shame. Me=12 years of lessons vs. Eric= self taught.
6. I love soft rock music.
7. I went to 2 New Kids on the Block concerts when I was a 'tween. I even made my own shorts for one of them! It's amazing what I can do with sharpies and a pair of cut offs.
8. I take Flinstone Vitamins.
9. I'm a home body. I would rather be at home than out in a crowd.
10. I used to be a spaz. Always loud, always needing to be out in a crowd. That's what marrying an introvert did to me! :)
11. I play my Nintendo DS before going to sleep every night.
12. I have a hard time with perception. I usually have bruises on my hips from walking into the corner of the desks at work.
13. I snort when I laugh.
14. I used to have a little bit of a..um.. ah... "intrigued by" crush on Prince... just a little one! and I don't anymore... I don't even own any of his music. anymore.
15. I had 15 jobs from the age of 17-25. Some of them overlapped! :)I was a nanny(2x), worked in a day care(3x), delivered mail/file clerk, barista (3x), worked in a bakery, a bookstore, a gourmet food store(2), a furniture store,and Wendys.
So, that's me! I tag Alicia! And Stacey! and I tag Casey... she's brand new to blogging, so it's up to her if she wants to play!

to never forget
I haven't posted because I haven't known what to say. I am at a loss for words right now, as we once again approach the days that changed our lives, my heart is heavier than usual. Eric and I were talking tonight. I've had many people talk about me writing a book... even before we lost Micah, I believe. It was brought up by a friend again today and Eric asked what I would write about and I said that I don't know. I said I didn't know if I would write about Micah. I don't share details, the real details, the real raw emotions because, quite honestly, it sucks to re-live it. There are so many moments, thoughts that we keep to ourselves. The one thing I will share is that I remember the details of Micah. Of his face, his hands, his feet. How he felt in my arms and how it was to kiss his face. I have asked the Lord to help me to remember always. Every now and then, I go back to that place and let myself remember. to never forget.

Six Years today!
Eric and I met at church on December 30, 2001. That night, we just happened to be invited to the same get together and were left alone (I was told later it was planned!) to talk and get to know eachother. We started hanging out almost daily after that. I had dated a lot of creeps early on so I had asked the Lord to guard my heart and make it very clear who was my soulmate. And He did. It wasn't just that new relationship feeling, I knew Eric was my prince. Two weeks after meeting, we started ring shopping. I have never regretted getting married jut 9 months after meeting. Since that time Eric has become my best friend, my listening ear, the one who I love to joke with, hang out with and talk to. I have told many people that you don't know how strong your relationship is until tragedy strikes. Not that I think everyone should experience tragedy, but unfortunately, it comes and you need someone who will stand by you during that. I am so thankful for meeting Eric. I am so thankful he asked me to marry him. I am so thankful I said yes. And I am most thankful, that thru the rough and easy times, we have stuck by each other and continue to love and support each other. I love ya, babe!

The commercials don't lie.
I'm a fan of Stride gum~ it really is ridiculously long lasting. Peppermint flavor is my favorite. It seems that I am not the only one in our household who's a fan.
This is what I woke up to:

and this is the "person" responsable: (trying to flee the scene)

these two parts have been torn apart, the blue writing on the inside of the box has been licked away until the inside part of the paper is visable, and every piece of gum has been licked so that the wrapper is stuck to the gum. completely.
I knew she was guilty by her peppermint smelling meow! silly kitty!

My Saturday morning share-fest.
I've read a lot of posts lately about remembering what God has done for us and about our attitudes and it has really got me thinking. When I was 19, after a scary night out with friends (don't worry dad, it was just a talk about death and eternity!) , my mom helped me pray and ask God to be my friend and help me. I had no idea what I was asking, but after that night and some of the other things I'd experienced earlier, I turned to God. I think alot of times people think that just because they make the decision to rely and trust in God that all will be perfect. I know I am guilty of this. But instead, I see God as my friend. I talk to him about what I'm thankful for and what I'm upset about. Sometimes he just listens, and sometimes I get a different perspective on my situation that I hadn't thought of before. I had some small miracles happen in my life that I will share just as a reminder for myself as well. When I was 21, I was visiting my dad and marion on the other side of town when it started to rain. I remembered that I'd left the windows in the back of the house open (my room and the dining room) and it always rained in them. I made some silly plea to God to not let it rain in my window because my blankets would get wet and I wouldn't like it. The first thing I noticed when I got home a few hours later was the pile of water on the windowsill in the dining room so I ran into my room and felt the blankets under my window. They were dry. The windowsill was dry. I looked at the window and rain drops only covered the part of the screen that was still hidden by the glass. My miracle. I made Sarah come over and see it and rushed my mom over as well so that my rain miracle could be documented.
When Micahs heart stopped in my womb, I really believed that God would bring him back to life. I really thought I'd go into labor and the doctor would be freaked out by my living, crying baby boy. But it didn't happen and my faith and trust were greatly shaken. It has been almost two years now, and God still carries us and cares for us. In many ways He is helping us to gain our trust in Him again. I hope that doesn't sound strange but He is. He provides for every bill~ expected and unexpected. We won a radio contest for a big chunk of money at the perfect time to have our paperwork go to China. This also showed me that we weren't crazy for pursuing adoption so soon after loosing Micah.
So, there ya have it. My Saturday morning share-fest.
I hope you have an amazing day.

If only I'd known.
Did you know today was international "talk like a pirate" day?!
I didn't either until DIB mentioned it on her blog. Don't worry. I yelled at her enough for all of us. My day would've been so much cooler if I could've talked like a pirate. Do you have any idea how many people I would've told to " GO WALK THE PLANK!"? And I love to say AARRGG! It is seriously fun. I always look for an excuse to say it.
I want a calendar with all the crazy holidays so If you see one, pick it up for me! I want to be the one to send random cards for random reasons. I want to make cards for random holidays. Maybe that will be my "thing". Everyone seems to have a thing, and maybe mine can be making and sending crazy holiday cards... hmm. The possibilities are endless.

The 80s threw up on me at the age of nine

I think you need a closer look at the amount of jelly stuff is going on in this picture. I have a Jelly purse, Jelly bracelets that I'm wearing the cool way and I off set it with a plastic charm necklace that I added to.

I am also wearing fancy open toed jelly shoes that are turquise. My feet and legs must've been very cold on that midday in July!

We'll leave the mullet discussion for a future post.

the questions have answers.

The boring week
I really have nothing to report this week at all!
Except, thankfully, my co worker who was having cancer scare upon cancer scare has officially been given a clean bill of health! Yeah!
I learned that I can play my gamecube SIMS game in my Wii... which is AWESOME since I have really missed playing it~ our TV is not set up for 3 game systems, so Wii is the only one hooked up right now!
I also learned that I am allergic to vegetables.
Okay, so maybe not but I do have an interesting story to back up such a claim.
My mom and I went to a farmers market today. First of all, it's August in Florida. Why would I think it'd be fun to be outside for a longer period of time then it takes me to get from my car to the house? Anyways, there are these all natural vitamins that my friend's been talking about and they actually had a booth there. I was sharing my vitamin dilemma of how I only take Flinstones or I throw up. She assured me that these were so much better for me so she gave me a sample of the gummies. I took them and five minutes later, I started to shake, sweat, and almost passed out! Wonders upon wonders, one of my sweet friends was there too! She had just come to talk to me before my "episode" and let me drink her kids water and eat her banana! I sat down and mom rushed and got me a bottle of water and then we made it to an air conditioned restaurant. By the time I got there, I was soaked with sweat! After getting my sugar to balance, we realized that I basically had a hypo or hyper glycemic reaction to the vitamins... that are packed with fruits and veggies. I eat fruits all the time, so I MUST be allergic to veggies. Or not. All I know is that Flinstones never disappoint.

Holding on to Hope
When I moved Eric down here before we got married, we brought our friend with us. That friend traveled in the car with me. He had had a hard life, suffered great hurts and great loss. He was so angry at God and questioned why he had to endure what he did. I really believe that the Lord helped me to share the love of God with him. I remember being so positive, so "my cup is 1/2 full!" in attitude. When I think about that now, I laugh. Those talks for two days were great and I believe I was able to help him see things in a different light but I laugh because I probably wouldn't go about it the same way. I would definitely share the thoughts I believe God gave me, but maybe tone down the chipper, positive attitude. I have learned what it means to grieve and to hurt and to continue to have hope thru it all. I think that's what I would share now.
I have had days where I physically didn't think I could go on. The emotional pain was so intense that I didn't know how I would go on. But I did and I do.
Because I have hope.
This hope is nothing that I can descrbe. It is inside of me telling me that I can't give up. Not on life. Not on God.
"Yet my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him" Psalms 62"5
"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
They will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
Where ever you are, whatever you're going thru, continue to hold on to hope.

Dinner time
Eric and I eat dinner in front of the TV. I know, don't lecture. We will eat at our diner table when we have kids but until then, we eat in front of the TV on the coffee table. Trax lays underneath my legs because I'm messy. And sometimes, he hits the jackpot. Like tonight, for example, When my crazy bread fell off my plate and onto his head.
Yah, sure, trax may look a little silly with crumbs on his head,

But it is SOOOO worth it!

Conquering fears & A trip down memory lane
I conquered a fear of mine this weekend. I scrapbooked.
This doesn't sound all that scary, but ever since Micah died, it has been. I knew that at some point I was going to have to put the last year and 1/2 on paper... I just was scared. I feel such relief. I was able to accomplish something that I have been fearing and putting off for so long. I want to make sure that any future family that picks up that scrapbook will know about our sweet Micah.
What pushed me to do it this weekend were these papers and rub-on decals:

I found them in this really cool shop the next town over and am in love with them! IN LOVE! They even have velvet decals that have a sticky back. I made this card with the orange velvet:

I had to go to my moms house to get my pictures and came home with these:

Eric had never even heard of EVEN ELEPHANTS FORGET! so I made him sit down and play right then!

That was my favorite game when I was a kid! When I saw it on the top shelf in her closet I squealed with glee. Seriously, I did. I went to take it down from the shelf and found myself exclaiming my love for the pink imprinty thingy. I proceeded to go thru each and every area/drawer/shelf/ container in the closet. I left all of my books and dolls there but claimed the unused strawberry shortcake activity book as my own. I love that my mom didn't throw my stuff away and that even though our kids will have new things, they can enjoy the stuff that their mom loved!

My latest painting
A while back, I read a line in my devotion Bible that said "immerced in grace". That sounded so beautiful to me that I wrote it down. About 2 months ago, I painted this painting and after staring at it for a few weeks, I added that line.
I love textures and colors. Very rarely does what's in my head come out on the canvas or paper, so I typically don't plan anymore. I just layer and play around till I like it. And it's purple. My favorite color. And Stacy and Jonathan too!
New Orleans revisited.
I was uploading some pictures and ran across this:

When my dad, Marion, and I went to New Orleans, we got off the trolly too soon and had to walk to the zoo thru this park. When I saw this house, I stopped and took a picture for Eric. He likes scary movies and it looked like it belonged in one. I don't think I would want to walk by this house at night!
When we finally got to the zoo, I made sure to see the monkeys. I like exhibits with a lot of one kind of animal like the monkeys, the penquins, the flamingos because I like to the see the interaction.

I hate alligators but took this picture because they have moss on them! Our alligators are too busy in Florida nibbling on people and animals to grow moss, I believe.

I should be sleeping~ not blogging...
But I had an adventurous night! And Look! I am able to label this post "adventures and such"!
My friend Ava organized a girls night out to paint pottery. 5 of us showed up and had a lot of fun. To tell you the truth, I don't get out much and I am not the social butterfly I once was so It was really good to be in a smaller group of girls that are down to earth and fun! So, this is what I painted:

My cat looks pregnant but that's supposed to be the foot that I obviously didn't make long enough!
I won't name this friend~

I am not sure if this face came before of after she announced " I am REALLY funny tonight!" That you are, sister. That you are.

this is what we call RANDOM.
I have come to realize that the love I felt for Florida was just infatuation. Florida's seriously getting on my nerves... and for the complete opposite reasons that Michigan did. It's hot. The humid, you're sweating before you can step off your porch hot. I broke out in hives when battling the jungle that constantly threatens to overtake our backyard. I probably could get hives no matter where I live, but I'm heaping coals on the fire, baby. And there are tons of bugs. That don't die. They just keep growing and growing.

This is a grasshopper. I took it with the light so you could see how unnaturally giant it is. You want to see a close up?

My birthday balloon that I received on April 3rd and that I photographed on May 20th has now seen the last of it's floating days. I would say 96 days is a nice life for a balloon.

I have a label for my blog entries that is "adventures and such". It has 3 entries. "Random things" has 47 entries. What does that say about me?
I tried a self tanning lotion. My legs have orange spots. I will be wearing jeans for the next 4 days.
'til next time.

nonsense and bangos- also known as BANJOS...
I told Eric we needed to have kids one way or the other so I can blog about them because my blog is lame. And I want to keep you entertained. Okay. So, I didn't say this, but I thought it! I blog about toast. TOAST. I actually just thought I'd have to keep this blog filled with my nonsense for a few months till we were able to bring home our daughter from China. This is a great outlet for me, though, so I will continue to search for funny things to tell you!
Okay, so we don't have cable. We get 9 channels but stick primarily to 3 of them. When you have only a few channels, you watch just about anything. Case and point: Farmer wants a wife on the CW. I have to admit that I've watched snippits the last few weeks and was excited to see who he picked. Oh, you're curious too? It wasn't the New York girl with spice that I dug, but the girl from Texas who looked like she belonged there on the farm. Eric and I decided that we couldn't live in the country with no Publix around the corner. How do you live with no Publix around the corner?! We do have a country band complete with banJo (Thanks, Sarah!) that play in the parking lot of our Tastee Twist Ice Cream Shop every Friday night, so that makes us a little country here, right?

Anyone have a reasonable explaination?
Trax gets a rawhide chew every night while we watch TV. He doesn't always finish them but still whines the most annoying whine until he's given a new one. I looked down one night to see this:

Does anyone think this is peculiar? Do you think the triangle has any significance? Is Trax showing us he now knows his shapes?

It's that time again.
In Just about 2 months, on August 20, 2008, we will have been waiting exactly a year for our sweet child from China. We will be renewing our fingerprints in the next few weeks and then will be following up with the renewing of the other stuff. I say other stuff because I don't know exactly what needs to be done. My agency lady calls, gives me directions, and I do it. I also don't want to think about it. Thinking about the amount of paperwork gives me heartburn and almost gives me a panic attack. did I say almost? I look at people who are adopting again and going thru the paperwork and want to yell, "YOU AMAZE ME!" I really do! But, it will be worth it, and I pray to God that nothing will stand in the way of us being able to bring home the child He has for us to love and raise.
I think adoption's amazing. I do. I am thankful that we have this opportunity, so I will stop whining about waiting and paperwork... for now. In a few months when the "other stuff" needs renewing, you may hear me whining again!

It's not rocket science
Note to self:

Move face out of car doors way BEFORE opening.
Thankfully, we had ice from our morning cokes so I think that kept the black and blue to a minimum.
This looks much better than the black eye of 2000. I was with a bunch of friends in a park by our college and I jumped off a cliff and slammed my eye into my knee. I had a guy at the bank offer to "take care of the guy who did it"!

Please. someone throw me in a pool.
My title has nothing to do with what I planned to post but after being outside for 10 minutes, I'm a sweaty, stinky mess. Eric's trimming/edging and mowing. So my duty is to go out with ice cold water and hydrate him every 10-15 minutes. I guess I can handle that!
This week's okay. I've really been stressed with work to the point of dreaming about what I need to do. Trax has his rash back again. The doctors said I have to give it one more week on the strong bug meds to make sure it's not a flea allergy and then they will test him for allergies. Because that's what my hyper dog needs: allergies. awesome! Speaking of hyper, we ran out of his medication on Tuesday night and made the brilliant decision that he'd be fine till today. Obviously, we didn't remember the pictures from a few posts ago. He received his pill at 12:34 pm today and he is laying in a state of peaceful bliss on the sofa. Or I should say he's laying on the sofa and I am in a state of peaceful bliss.
This is the toast I ate today.

This is what toast is supposed to look like.

Eric and I go grocery shopping together and I try to be so careful with making sure the bag with the bread is on top near the front of the cart closest to the handle. I am usually putting my purse in the front seat while Eric starts putting groceries away. I soon ask where the bread is which causes Eric to stop, think, then point into the almost full trunk and say, "I think it's in there."
Now you know why my toast looks like it does.
From Now on, I'm going to try to remember to carry out the bread with me and my purse. Man, I am glad we don't get eggs often!
When we were walking thru the ice cream isle, this sweet older lady was searching for ice cream for herself. I thought that it would be great to show her new single serving ice creams like these:

I put the water bottle there so you can picture just how small they really are.
She looked at me, at the tiny ice cream, then at me again and said " if I came to your house and you served me that, I am sure I would never go to your house again!"

my hair is not short and blonde
I was suckered by an add that said that I could dye my hair in only 10 minutes and the !NEW! comb would make it easier.
I am mailing out my letter of complaint soon.
Anyways, it's black, fading to brown. It was a beautiful chocolate brown on the box. On the box. Eric says it looks good but we've been married long enough that he knows better than to say anything different. The real issue is not the color but the fact that I should not add more chemicals to my sad, struggling hair. The last time I got it trimmed a few months back, the lady said my hair was breaking in the middle~ almost like I kept it in ponytails all the time. She said the stress of life wreaks havoc on your hair and that I shouldn't color it. That was 2 colorings ago. oops. But those girls on the boxes make me want to be just like them!
Enough on that.

Those are the closet doors in the hallway. We had some "new" friends come over and they said "your house is really nice, but what's up with your 1/2 mirrored closet doors?" We told them that our realtor said the previous owner had a cuff fetish. um, okay. um. Can anybody else come up with a better reason? I left those mirrors on after my attempt to take the ones off in our room left me with glass punctures. We threw the ones from our room out and bought new one about 2 years later. Procrastination. It's a thing we do well in our house!
While you're looking at that picture, I just want to recommend buying solid doors instead of the slats. They may look nice, but unless you have a very thorough cleaning lady, I'd suggest something a little easier to maintain! Look, I just gave ADVISE!
wow, this blog may take a turn yet...
I'll try to see if I can come up with another bit of advise for you later this week... stay tuned!

Weddings

This is Eric and Me on our wedding day. This picture always makes me contemplate going short and blonde again.
We went to a beautiful wedding last weekend.
...It seems that we must've pushed the beautiful floral centerpiece too close to the candles because our table caught fire! We were able to put it out with no firemen and not causing a scene...
This made me start thinking of weddings and it made me curious as to what some of you have experienced. At our weddding, one of my bridesmaid dads convinced one of my other bridesmaids husbands that the party favor was lilac colored white chocolate. He soon found out it was soap~ and this happened before drinks were made available! Poor guy! The DJ had to keep announcing that it was soap and not candy! In my defense, I didn't put it in a candy box. It was a heart shape wrapped in saran wrap then in tule with a little note about sharing our day with us. When making the note, I decided writing "this is soap" would look uncool. So, my advise is to stick to candy in candy boxes or write soap if it's soap.
Anyone want to share? S.M., I think your wedding was perfect except for a kids fingerprint in the cake, right?!
old school playtime
It's hot out. Muggy and gross. I have this special sound I make when walking out in the muggy air. Eric still hasn't gotten used to it~ a cough-groan-moan-sigh sorta noise. He still asks me if I'm okay when I make it! I think by mid-June I'll just get a look that says "yeah, it's muggy and gross but knock that off, won't ya?!"
Our neighbors kids have the slip n' slide out and are having a blast. It's one of the cool ones that you hook up a hose and it sprays on both sides all the way like in a car wash. They may have had these when I was growing up but we didn't roll like that on H Blvd.
I grew up in Michigan and in the winter, my dad would put the plastic on the windows. A big piece of plastic was cut for each window then it was framed out with thin wood pieces and nailed around the windows. I remember seeing the air moving between the window and plastic but not being cold. I don't know if this is normal practice but the whole neighborhood had the same windows and they were junky. During the summer, we'd grab the plastic from the basement and lay it out in the backyard, put the hose at the top and Voila! Slip n' Slide H Blvd style. If you got going really fast, you'd fly into the chain link fence. I remember being so scared of that but the boys seemed to make it their goal.
This is such a funny memory from me. I think of all the things that kids have these days and the amount of toys and gadgets our kids are probably going to have and in a way, it's sad. We didn't use the plastic because we couldn't buy a slip n' slide but because we (I think it was my brothers invention so I'll give him props for this one!) were inventive. I'm not sure slip n' slides were available then, to be honest. Most of our games that us kids played was made up. We played pickle, like I mentioned on an earlier post. You'd put two bases on opposite ends of the sidewalk and one person would stand on each base. Those people would throw the ball and the monkey in the middle would try to get to one of the bases without being tagged. Man, we used to play that for hours. One time, our mean neighbor stole our bases and threw them in the trash. I plan to rant about him and other bizzare episodes in a further entry. I try to keep my ramblings to a max. of 3 subjects at a time and throwing neighbors in would be overkill. Okay, back on topic. Where ever that may be.
The kids my age used to make up crazy games or activities. We'd put on our rollar skates and head to the across the street neighbors unfinished cement basement. two people would grab a jump rope. The person in front would get going real fast, and the person in back holding the rope would have to maneuvere around the metal poles that were holding the house up! oh my gosh! I'm not sure our parents knew we were doing that~ how stupid! Now, from a "parents" perspective I realize how dangerous that was. No one or no thing ever got broken from that game so no harm, I guess. Most of the other games sound lame in black and white so I won't share them with you! But next time we hang out, let me know if you want to dark draw or corner pummel!
Enjoy your day!

shoplifters and headlights
About a week ago, my mom ran to a local store to buy some shoes. She and another lady were leaving just as the store was closing. She got in her car and headed for home when she noticed a cop trailing her. She thought it was strange and stranger still when his lights and sirens went on! After saying something in the loud speaker, he came to the window and put a light in her face and then exclaimed "oh, you have the wrong color hair!" The security guard who saw a shoplifter told the cop the wrong car to trail~ thankfully the security guard gave the cop the womans correct hair color! Poor mom.
I got pulled over a lot in my late teens/early twenties when I had my chevy cavalier, Don Juan Benito. (seriously, who doesn't name their cars in high school!? Just because my cars name was a little bit longer and maybe alot weirder than your cars name, doesn't give you the right to judge!!!) : ) The name really worked to my disadvantage, though because D.J. got hit on all the time. A shwan truck took off part of my front bumper and a lady rear ended me going 35 when I had come to a complete stop~ that hurt. I'm pretty sure there were more occasions but I can't think of them right now.
Anyways, his headlights burned out all the time. I would say that I got pulled over once every 6 months to be told one of my headlights was out. One night, I got pulled over TWICE because of it. That stunk.
Anyways, my week, compared to these stories, was much less adventuresome. I just asked Eric if we did anything exciting this week just to make sure I wasn't forgetting to tell you anything. He said he doesn't think we did. I'm pretty sure we didn't either.
Drive safe, readers!

A few pictures to show why we medicate our dog:
I forgot to give Trax his "Yummy!" this morning. I shake the pills and tell him it's time for his yummy and he comes and sits right down in front of me. He also takes his pills like a champ. He is naturally wild so the pills help keep him on an even normal-hyper dog level. Right now, he's lying on the floor behind me and can only lie still for so long. Every minute or so he'll stretch, itch or yawn! Silly, sweet puppy!

heartache
My heart has been pretty broken lately and I have been hesitant to write anything since this is the main way my dad, who's many states away, makes sure all is well with us and I know he gets nervous if I seem sad. But, I'm going to share now.
Since loosing Micah, my level of compassion and sorrow for others has increased. In the past few weeks, I have learned of two sweet friends both having miscarriages. One has been struggling with infertility for over a year and she was heartbroken, to say the least. Many in China lost their lives because of an earthquake. Parents are greiving the loss of their children and children are grieving the loss of their parents. When I see the news stories, I weep. I love these people. They are so beautiful to me and it hurts my heart to know the devestation and heart ache that these people are enduring. On a brighter note, there was a news report that Eric and I caught the end of last night. This organization in China is not only helping the victims of this tragedy, but bringing smiles to their faces by juggling and playing games. To see these people laughing hysterically as we saw the make-shift housing of tents in the background made my heart hurt and hopeful for them at the same time. Today Eric told me that Steven Curtis Chapman , a musician in the Christian community who has adopted 3 children from China and helped set up grants to help thousands of families adopt, lost his daughter who was hit by a car driven by a family member.
I share this because my heart is aching for these people. I have to remember that God didn't tell us that this world would be easy, just that he'd be with us. And as I cry and my heart aches, I pray that the Lord is with these people ~ that He holds them and comforts them in ways they've never experienced. That they will find hope in the midst of the darkness.

the mystery has been solved
Next year, I'm picking the balloon.
Eric bought me this balloon for my birthday. That was on April 3rd~ 47 days ago! I've never seen anything like this!
We have this rule in our house that it's your birthday (which means you get all vetoing power on movies, restaurants) until your cake runs out... next year, I'm changing the rules. It's my birthday until the hellium runs out!

summer, summer, summer time. ah, summertime
Summers in Florida are so hot. You don't see very many people outside other than walking from their air conditioned car to their air conditioned house. But I remember loving summers in Michigan. Partly, because it was a few months where I wasn't forced to wear snowpants and moon boots. You southerners may not know what moon boots are, but I bet Sarah and Vicki and maybe even Carrie are remembering their favorite pair right now! Summers were awesome! I lived in the same house from the time I was 4 till I was 25 (I did live with my dad and step mom for 4 years in the middle and visited the house I am currently speaking of every other weekend)... ((okay... another side note... I didn't realize why Eric was always telling me to get to the point when telling a story and now that I blog, I now know! Rabbit trails! All the time! Just be glad I proof read and use the delete button frequently, or you'd never come back and visit.)) I remember playing pickle on the sidewalk. This was our version of Monkey in the middle involving baseball diamonds and a baseball. Basketball and baseball in the street~ which probably wasn't the smartest thing we did since we did it at the end of a semi-blind curve. oh, well. we all made it out alive. We spent 4th of July together with sparklers and the grown kids would light the cool firecrackers. I remeber picnics, staying out till the street lights came on, swimming in the kiddie pool, riding my bike, picking raspberries at the neighbors, writing on the sidewalk (and getting in trouble) with crab apples.
ah, memories.
And to think this post started because I saw a kid playing basketball in the street~ rabbit trail like no other, my friend!

Kind of a part II and other adventures
I made a New Orleans Part I blog, thinking I had a bunch of pictures to post but I don't... so, um, yeah.
Anyways. When we were in New Orleans, we went to the preservation hall and heard the Jazz band. The thing that stuck out to me is the love these men have for their music, their instrument. They don't just play it. They have a gift and they use it to the fullest. It was so cool to watch their faces when they played and when their band partners played. It was like they were hearing it for the first time!
We went to the zoo too. It's a really nice zoo with great exhibits. I tried to add pictures but blogger's taking forever to upload them. Sorry to disappoint!
I also ate a fried pastry with powdered sugar on it. I know how to say it but not spell it, so it will remain nameless. I think fried things are great. I also love powdered sugar. I used to love licking the bowls after frosting sugar cookies with powdered sugar icing at Christmas. Oh my, I am starving now. starving.
I digress.
Today, Eric and I went to Lowes to buy dirt to fill in areas in our yard. As eric was loading it on the cart, an older man started talking to us. He then took me by the arm and took me to his cart to explain how to get a good bargain on miracle grow. He told us how to make our plants big and healthy. I didn't have the heart to tell him that we just wanted to cover up the pipe from our sprinklers where the dirt's been washed away! I think my shirt with flowers on it made him think I gardened. My dad is the gardener in the family. He even has a gazebo! and a fountain! I have only seen it in person twice so I don't have more things to list with exclaimations.
Other than that, we've just laid low all weekend. Have a great week.

Good ol' New Orleans PART I
My dad and step mom flew me out to one of their favorite cities~ New Orleans. They met me there from the North.
One thing that sticks out about the city that my dad pointed out is when the people in N.O. talk about things that have happened, they say it in terms of before or after Katrina. I get that. That's how I view our lives. Things happend before I was pregnant or after Micah was born. It's my landmark. It is the moment that changed who I was. It made me who I am.
And I think that's how it is with that city. Many people didn't come back but those that did have such a passion for their city. THEIR city.
I will write more about my adventures later but need to go to bed now.
I do have to say that I had the CRAPPIEST plane ride on the way home. Thank God is was a short trip. I am already praying that my 13-20 hour plane adventure to China in a few years doesn't suck and isn't so scary. At one point I was curled up in a ball in my seat to keep my stomache from dropping (that doesn't help, by the way). But I'm home and safe.
Night.

Chocolate
It covers a multitude of sorrows.

or atleast numbs them until that wonderful chocolatey taste in my mouth is gone.
...then I just reach for another piece! And the chocolate above... those are truffles, people. soft, creamy chocolate middles... doesn't get much better!
And I am still working out at the gym. It's a balancing act.

Peace like a river that transends my soul
I woke up with that in my head. I guess it's better than waking up in a panic or super sad. Both of which I've been doing lately.
Last Sunday marked the 2 year anniversary of when Eric and I found out we were pregnant with Micah. I'm not much for anniversaries or things like that, but it's amazing... my body and emotions remember for me. For a few months after Micah died, I would feel so sad every Thursday. Then it occured to me that we found out Micahs heart had stopped beating on Thursday, November 1st. I've had different occurances like this. But this week, I have been so sad. I just went and opened his keepsake box and looked at the Journal that I made him. Sure enough, April 13, 2006 our doctor told us we were pregnant. . We went to Ginza Japeneze steakhouse after the appointment and I gave Eric a book of names and a bib with a sailboat that says "I love my daddy". We both knew we were having a boy. It's so hard to remember how happy we were about our son... about raising Micah and being parents. All the dreams, the expections, the hopes. oh... it hurts so much, even after 2 years.
I was so much in love with Micah. Still am. I have never so completely sacrificially loved anyone. I even ate veggies for goodness sakes and I don't do that!
I share this because I feel like I have to get it out. Get it out of me, atleast.
You know what scares me most about every getting pregnant again? That I will hold myself back from the next child for fear of losing it as well. Of not talking and loving on them as much as I did Micah. I knew his habits, his patterns, I knew his spirit. And it scares me to feel that again, in a way. To love someone that much and loose them. I do realize that Micah's with Jesus. I get it. I am just sad that he's not with me and Eric. That's just my truth.
I sit here sobbing and puffy eyed and question God as to what I am to do with this. I don't want to hurt in vain. I don't want to sit and feel sorry for myself. And I don't think that I do. I have made it a point to be a good employee and I have tried my best to be the best friend and wife I can be at this time. Sometimes I fail, but I do try.
So, that's where I am right now.
There is a big thing Eric and I felt needs to happen soon...I'll explain further once it happens but If you can pray that God will help it happen, that'd be awesome.
Love you guys.

So hard to say goodbye.
I guess it was inevitable.
I am still unable to fit into some of my pre pregnancy clothes. "some" is an understatement, but lets leave it alone, okay?
I am proud to say that 2 pairs of pants made it back into rotation. I like to believe that it's because I'm working out and my thighs are now strong and muscle-y and will no longer fit into my pre-buff-hot chic pants.
Jump on into fantasy world. The waters warm and there are slushies for all.
I've had to say farewell to a few items.

I have had this skirt for about 11-12 years. I bought it on sale at the buckle for $12.00 and I thought it would be AWESOME to wear with these boots:

In the last 11-12 years, I have worn that skirt about 3-5 times-around the house.
I'm sure the goodwill shoppers will apreciate a nice pleather snakeskin skirt with slits up the sides.
This outfit that I created with the above pieces reminds me of a little number I created in spring of 95. It was my senior year and I was so carefree and lovin' life.

As you can see, the dress is about 2 sizes too big. But I really wanted those shoes and it was the only thing that I could find in hot pink. Here's a close up to see what I couldn't resist:

I did keep these pants.

I realize that they're ugly. But they're so cool at the same time. I still believe in them. I believe that they still have something to offer me that my jeans cannot.
And check this out!

I bought this shirt last weekend at Virgin Records in Downtown Disney. Air Guitar Champion, baby!
I hope you enjoyed the tour.

grab a number and get in line
When we started the paperwork for our adoption, we were told the wait was 16-18 months. Our paperwork was logged in on August 20, 2007(this is what we refer to as our LID-log in date) and since then, the wait gets longer and longer and a bit more discouraging. It is now official that people with the LID of January 5-9, 2006 have just gotten their referal -that's the picture and info. of the child that has been selected to be theirs. So, just think: Those people who have the LID of 1-9-06 have waited 27 months! TWENTY SEVEN MONTHS! agh. That is a really, really long time.
I love the idea of adopting. I never really thought about it until recently, but I was always drawn to the orphan stories- Annie, Anne of Green Gables, Oliver. But, to look at the numbers and see that in a months time, only 5 days of LIDs receive their Children and information is really sad to both me and Eric. I try to keep my mind occupied on other things, but this is such a dream of ours... and it's sad that it's so far away.
hm.
So, that's a lot of what's been in my head and on my heart lately. There's some other stuff, but that'll come later! A little at a time!
xoxo

Happy Birthday to me!
Today is my birthday.
Last year, my birthday was HORRIBLE. I was so very sad. I didn't really understand why until a few days later when I realized that by my 30th birthday my life was supposed to be different. Mainly, I had put it in my head that I would have atleast one child before I turned 30. So, turning 30 just 5 months and 1 day after Micah died STUNK. It stunk bad. and it hurt even more.
So, this year, I started talking about my birthday early~ where I was going to go for my birthday dinner, eating cake, etc. I didn't put any expectaions on turning 31~ I just did it. And I did it wearing the "birthday girl" ribbon Eric bought me all day long at work! My dad called me first thing this morning and wished me a happy day. I got his hallmark card and gift earlier this week. (I make a point that it was a hallmark because I LOVE hallmark cards. They are such good quality and high class, in my opinion. And the FRESH INK line... HOLY COW... so funny! I laugh till I cry!) My mom took Eric and I to the Greek restaurant in town which was really good. She also made me my bunny cake. I told her I was a grown up and grown ups don't need bunny cakes for their birthday. She didn't agree and will be making me a bunny cake until she's 90, she says. I will be 58. With a bunny cake. This is all because my birthday is sometimes on/near Easter... which is apperently the holiday of the bunny cake. Eric usually gets cake in shapes of some kind of musical instrument because he's a musician. Is this all making sense now? I just hope our kids have cool hobbies/skills or are born around a cool cake-worthy holiday.
Oh! and Eric did the dishes last night and vacuumed today~ happy birthday to me!

My legs. They are Jell-o.
Jello, people.
My girl-only gym closed last week so I went to the new mega-gym that moved in down the street.
I signed up yesterday and met with a trainer today. The guy worked my legs and made me do machine things that made my legs shake. So, here's the issue: I walk with my toes out. I was quacked at quite a bit in 8th grade for my duck-like walking... I have prayed for healing from the pain :) Any ways, my outside leg muscles aren't very strong, so he kept making me point my toes IN. On every machine. I had to pay serious attention to walking on the way out the door of the gym in a manner that would draw NO attention. I think I pulled it off.
So, I made the decision not to pay $240/month to be trained a few days a week. I told my nice 5' 2" trainer guy that I just couldn't spend that kind of money at the gym. The GM of the gym did make a point to let me know that my Body fat is high. and that I should loose about 13 lbs. THIRTEEN POUNDS. I haven't been that light since I was 19 or 20!!! So, in a few days I'm going to go back and wander around like a lost dog, trying to figure out how to do things by the little picture they stick on the machines. knowing I have to loose 13 lbs almost makes me less interested in eating the vanilla ice cream drumstick in the freezer. almost.
